CityU Education Forum 22: Prof. Sean Li, Academic Registrar and Dean of SOE of City University of Macau Shared the principle and method of Phenomenological Pedagogy

     On September 27, 2018, the School of Education was honored to invited the Prof. Li, Academic Registrar and Dean of SOE of City University of Macau, attended CityU Education Forum. In this forum, he mainly shared his ideas and answered students’ questions about how to do a qualified work in phenomenological method in educational research.


     Firstly, Prof. Li talked about his growth process, family life and doubt in his son’s growth process, and pointed out his doubt arouse his curiosity, which was the impetus of his research. And then Prof. Li quoted the fragment of the movie “Mona Lisa Smile” to explore the model of teaching when teacher faced student and how to form a good relation with students. Lastly, Prof. Li detailed explained the philosophical foundation and examples of phenomenology, offered an optional method for graduate students’ research.


     Prof. Li is highly welcomed by all the participants, and he answered all their questions in detail. Last but not least, Prof. Li suggested that we should cultivate our sensitivity to the observation of things, research from small educational phenomenon and experience. Because research comes from life, curiosity arouses research. He hoped that students shouldn't be trapped in existing idea,accept new things in open mind and realize the significance of the research.
