School of Education Holds 2024–2025 Academic Year Curriculum Quality Assurance Committee Meeting

TO further enhance teaching quality and promote the high-quality development of academic programs, the School of Education, City University of Macau convened the 2024–2025 Academic Year Curriculum Quality Assurance Committee Meeting on the afternoon of August 18, 2025, in the Conference Room of the Golden Dragon Centre Campus. The meeting was attended by: Professor Zuo Huang and Professor Wang Dongqing from South China Normal University ,Professor Wang Baoguo, Acting Director of the Quality Assurance Office, City University of Macau, Student representatives from the School of Education: Du Meirong, Xie Bin, Zhao Xinyan, and Deng Ying, Participants engaged in in-depth discussions focused on postgraduate talent development and curriculum optimization in the School of Education.

 The meeting was chaired by Assistant Professor Dai Yi, Programme Director of the School. Dean Li Ying Cheng delivered a welcome speech and introduced the school’s educational philosophy of research-informed teaching and student-centered education. Programme Director Dai Yi systematically reviewed the operation of master’s and doctoral programmers during the 2024–2025 academic year, covering student enrolment, faculty development, teaching evaluation, academic research, instructional methods, and thesis proposal and defense procedures.

Invited experts offered valuable insights and suggestions. From the perspective of high-level talent cultivation, Professor Zuo Huang proposed four strategic directions: strengthening the articulation of research methods courses, visualizing the alignment of course objectives, establishing an “evaluation-driven improvement” mechanism, and expanding international review channels. Professor Wang Dongqing put forward ideas on developing distinctive programmes in educational evaluation, technology, and psychology, and emphasized that research projects can effectively drive and enhance teaching quality.

In addition, PhD student representatives Du Meirong and Xie Bin, and master’s student representatives Zhao Xinyan and Deng Ying shared their learning experiences. They highly recognized the school’s curriculum achievements in academic training, research capacity development, and critical thinking cultivation, while also offering suggestions for new elective courses.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dean Li Ying Cheng summarized the discussions and outcomes. The School of Education will continue to focus on three core areas: continuously optimizing the curriculum system, accelerating faculty development, and deepening internationalization and academic collaboration, thereby comprehensively improving the quality of talent cultivation.
