CityU Education Forum 26: Dr. Yi-Chan Lan From Western Sydney University Shared Internationalisation of Higher Education: The Best Practice Case Study.

     On December 5, 2018, it was a great honor to invite Dr. Yi-Chen Lan, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Western Sydney University to attend the CityU Education Forum at the School of Education of the City University of Macau! In this lecture, Dr. Lan overviewed the internationalisation of higher education's key points, and predicted its influence.

 

     First of all, Dr. Lan clarified the definition, component, motivation and resource of internationalisation of higher education through"What is it ?". Then, Dr. Lan presented different pattern of transnational education, the elements effect students study abroad from four dimensions:international strategy, push-pull factors, internationalisation strategy implementation and evaluaion, and shared the research direction of internationalisation of higher education, global capability and working trend in the future. Finally, Dr. Lan analyze the experience of Australian and Western Sydney University's internationalisation of Higher Education, and took the international cooperation between Western Sydney University and the Business College of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics as an example to further explain.

 

     At the end of the lecture, the audience enthusiastically asked Dr. Lan some questions about the development and coorperation of internationalisation of higher education at home and abroad. Dr. Lan also gave a detailed analysis of the training and retention of teachers, the sharing of resources for international students and platforms for visiting scholars, and the training of English. Dr. Lan also hopes that students will expand their horizon and have their own special views in the trend of internationalisation of higher education through this forum.
