Recently, the First International Education Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Professor Liying Cheng, Dean of the School of Education, was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech. The conference focused on innovation and diversity in global education, aiming to foster exchange and collaboration among educators worldwide.
During the conference, Professor Cheng delivered a keynote speech titled "Innovations in Educational Assessment", emphasizing that assessment innovation is one of the core values of educational innovation. She encouraged educators to shift from traditional testing to assessment methods that support learning, highlighting the complementary roles of large-scale testing and classroom assessment in promoting student learning and development. Professor Cheng’s speech resonated strongly with the audience and received high praise from international peers.
In addition, Yang He, a doctoral student in Doctor of Philosophy in Education from School of Education, presented a paper titled "The Relationship between the Perception of Classroom Assessment and Autonomous Learning: A Path Analysis". Yang’s research explores the relationship between assessment practices in vocational English classrooms and students’ autonomous learning motivation, aiming to enhance students’ self-directed learning abilities through effective assessment methods.
In recent years, the School of Education has experienced rapid growth, with an increasing number of its educational research achievements gaining international recognition. The participation of our professor and student in this conference, hosted by the University of Malaya, showcased the strength and appeal of the School of Education, contributing wisdom and insights to the advancement of international education. The School remains committed to research and practice, driving innovation and development in education, and inspiring the global educational community.
