On December 11, 2024, the School of Education organized a special academic lecture titled "Research Questions and Methods in Education" for the doctoral students. The event featured Dr. Sathena Chan, an Associate Professor from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK, who shared insights into the current state of research in the field of education. She highlighted recent developments in the field and pointed out areas that require further attention.
During the lecture, Dr. Chan emphasized that clear and specific research questions are key to successful research. She shared techniques for refining research questions through literature analysis, practical observation, and peer discussions, offering practical guidance. Additionally, Dr. Chan provided concrete and actionable advice on selecting appropriate research methods based on research questions, designing research processes, and ensuring the reliability and validity of studies.
This lecture not only provided valuable academic guidance to our doctoral students but also inspired new perspectives on educational research. Attendees, including both faculty and students, expressed that Dr. Chan's insights deepened their understanding of educational research and helped them develop clearer plans for their future research directions and methodologies.
The success of this event underscores the school's commitment to advancing educational research and fostering academic exchange. Moving forward, the school plans to host more such academic activities to provide students with richer academic resources and support.
