On the morning of December 13, the sub-forum “Self-improving and Excellent Higher Education System and High-quality Development of Higher Education” was held at the Academic Conference Hall on the 3rd floor of the Smart Library, Quanzhou Vocational College of Light Industry.
This sub-forum was part of the International Symposium on Building a Strong Educational Country and Developing High-quality Education & Maritime Silk Road College Vocational Education, hosted under the Major Project of the National Social Science Fund of China: “Research on the Connotation, Comparison and Construction Path of the High-quality Education System”.
The School of Education, City University of Macau organized teachers and students to attend the event and engage in academic exchanges with other participants.
The session was chaired by Professor Yang Qingxi, Faculty of Education, Northeast Normal University.
Professors and experts from various universities and institutions were invited to deliver thematic sharing sessions.
Their presentations provided in-depth analyses from diverse perspectives, featuring both high-level theoretical construction and in-depth practical exploration, with a solid grounding in the Chinese context and a broad international vision.
Professor Li Ying Cheng, Dean of the School of Education, City University of Macau, delivered a keynote report entitled “High-quality Education System: Cross-cultural, Cross-linguistic and Interdisciplinary Talent Cultivation”.
Based on the CARE model and self-regulated learning, she outlined pathways to building a multilingual and sustainable learning ecosystem, and analyzed the significance of cross-cultural, cross-linguistic and interdisciplinary education in constructing a high-quality education system.

Focusing on the contemporary theme of “Self-improving and excellent higher education system and high-quality development of higher education”, the symposium fostered in-depth dialogue and intellectual exchanges.
These forward-looking insights and explorations will provide important reference and guidance for the university’s strategic planning during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
