FED of City U successfully held the first Educator Forum Seminar

Prof. Liu Baocun, Dean of Institute of International and Comparative Education, Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University, visited City University of Macau, and was invited to deliver the first “Educator Forum” seminar. As the first visiting educator and guest speaker, Prof. Liu brought a brilliant academic seminar, Education Journal Article Writing and Publication- Comparative Education Review as an Example, for FED Master and PhD students.

 

The seminar was conducted in a humorous but also rigorous way. Prof. Liu shared the journal founding position, disciplines, research fields, evaluation criteria and many other relevant topics of Comparative Education Review. Then, Professor Liu showed several specific writing cases to illustrate how to select a good topic with pedagogical meaning, how to carry out data collections, how to develop good paper framework, how to use refined and accurate academic language, how to write concise abstracts, and how to practice academic writing norms. Finally, Professor Liu shared the peer review system as well as the editorial process of Comparative Education Review, and also expressed warm encouragements to all the students for paper submission. During the Q&A session and the tea-break time, some students discussed positively with Prof. Liu on relevant issues like article writing and literature review etc.

 

The Educator Forum is initiated by the Faculty of Education, for creating a better learning and research atmosphere, strengthening communications of students and teachers, and improving the Faculty academic atmosphere. The Faculty will in sequence invite well-known educators and scholars from Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau to make a series of academic seminars. The forum will focus on topics inlcuding papers writing and publication, research methodology in education studies, and some other frontier topics in pedagogy.
